It’s no secret that I love lube. I use it whenever I need it, and frequently when I don’t because I truly believe it enhances my pleasure. However, only a quality lube will do. Junky, cheap lubes can gunk up quick and make things sticky. If they have the wrong ingredients, a yeast infection is almost guaranteed. Frolic is, by far, one of the best water based lubes I have ever used, and is my current favorite.

When considering a lube, ingredients are the first thing I look at. There’s a great guide over here. As a general note, I recommend avoiding glycerin (known to cause yeast infections), parabens (can irritate some people), and I personally like to avoid silicone because most of my toys are silicone. If silicone lubes come in contact with silicone toys they can fuse, leaving the toy in a state of permanent stickiness (at best). I also don’t like to use silicone because I feel like the body would have a hard time flushing it out, considering how silicone is water resistant. I figure, the longer that lube stays inside me, the longer it has time to gather bacteria and other problematic things.

The ingredients on Frolic:
Sodium Benzoate
Potassium Sorbate
Propylene Glycol,
Grapefruit Seed Extract,
Polyethylene Polymer

What attracted me to this particular lube was how they described it: “Specially Formulated For Use With Toys”. I can assure all my readers, and especially my fellow reviewers, this claim held up extremely well. I have done all my latest toy testing with the help of this lube and I cannot praise it enough.

It remains slick for a good amount of time, even with repetitive thrusting. It doesn’t get sticky; when it dries, it soaks into your skin like lotion, with only a tiny bit of ‘gunk’ left behind that I usually only notice after I’ve finished playing and am rinsing the toys off.

This is definitely more of a gel; it isn’t runny at all. I use this for my anal toys and would use it for anal sex if the occasion arises. It is as clear as water, with no smell. The taste is somewhat unpleasant. It’s extremely bitter and seems faintly chemically, however it is gone the second you remove your tongue from the lubed area.

I cannot recommend this lube enough to fellow toy users, masturbators and sexually active adults. The only people who might not enjoy this lube would be the people who get lube in their mouth frequently.

As a side note, the hot pink thing you see around the nozzle of the lube keeps the nozzle from being pushed during shipping or transportation. Hold onto this if you intend to carry lube around with you a lot.

Thank you so much, Fascinations, for sending me this lube to enjoy.

I received Frolic in exchange for an honest review.

Pleasurists adult product review round-up

System JO has a gigantic selection of flavored lubes, and they were kind enough to send me a couple to review. In this review I’ll be comparing the “Lemon Splash” and “Raspberry Sorbet” versions of their flavored, water based lubricants.

System JO makes quite a few body-safe lubricants for women (my favorite is their Agape version), however these flavored H20 lubes include parabens and glycerin in the ingredients. Glycerin can cause yeast infections, although System JO claims they use a kind of glycerin that doesn’t cause them. Some women have a sensitivity to parabens, so it may be best to do a patch test before using this lube.

The full list of ingredients: Propyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, Glycerine, Purified water, Natural and artificial flavors.

I love to use this lube for massages because the scents are wonderful. The raspberry smells like a sugary-fruit dessert and the lemon smells like lemon heads (the candy). Citrus is by far my favorite flavor and scent, so I absolutely adore using this on my partner before or after sex. It doesn’t last quite as long as their H20 for Women, but it does last fairly long. It leaves the skin silky smooth with a hint of scent that is heaven to kiss. It never gets sticky or gummy, and you can reapply as often as you need to.

Now, the taste could be better. I don’t like licking this in big amounts because there is a sharp kick of chemical taste. However, after that settles, it leaves a nice hint of raspberry or lemon taste. Kissing it leaves a tiny bit of scent on the lips; but it isn’t unpleasant at all. It’s quite similar to Chapstick, but a little sweeter and slicker.

The bottles are also very well designed. They feature a red button that flips the lid open when pressed. The button is impossible to miss, even to those of us who are blind without glass. After you flip the lid open the lube pours out freely on to your skin. I’m slightly worried that somehow the button will get pushed and the lube will get into my purse when I carry this around in my purse, so I usually throw it in a plastic baggy.

Texture wise, this is one of the thinnest lubes I’ve used. It slips and drips easily. However, even if it does get on your bed sheets, it should wash out easily without staining. After you rub it into your skin, it doesn’t run or drip off at all.

Which tastes better? It really depends on the mood. I find lemon to be a little more cheerful and happy, while the raspberry is great for nights where you want to take things a little bit slower. They’re about equally sweet which was somewhat surprising to me.

Thank you System JO for providing these to me for review!

System JO was generous enough to send me a few different lubricants to review. Most recently I posted the review for their Women’s H20 Lubricant, this week I’ll be reviewing the Agape Women’s H20. They’re very similar with a few key differences.

First off, their original Women’s H20 lists glycerin in the ingredients, while this one doesn’t. Glycerin is a type of sugar known to increase the risk of yeast infections. Even though the original version doesn’t agitate me in any way, I feel more comfortable knowing there isn’t a bigger risk of yeast infections.

Both contain parabens however, which irritate some women. They don’t affect me, even though I typically have really sensitive skin.

This lube is very slippery, with a viscosity similar to water. It might run off your fingers onto your sheets, but generally once you put it on an area, it will stay there. If the lube does get onto your sheets, a quick run through the laundry should remove it. It washes off pretty much anything (toys, body parts) with a little soap and water or a damp cloth.

It does stay slippery for a considerably long time, and if it starts getting tacky, a teaspoon of water should rejuvenate it. If you want a lube that lasts a really long time, consider trying their Silicone lube.

I use this lube most often, because silicone toys are almost always involved in my playtime because mixing silicone lube and silicone toys is an awful idea.

The bottle is really cute, discreet and easy to use. I love the fact it is a pump top! Just a pump or two is plenty and the top is easy to press, even with slippery fingers. As long as you keep the protective plastic cap on top of the pump top, it’s safe to carry around. I’ve kept this in my purse for a few days without incident and it doesn’t leak when turned on its side.

I honestly can’t tell much of a difference between this lube and their Original Women’s H20 Lube, which I recently reviewed. However, if I had to pick one, I would go with this one because it’s glycerin free.

I own the 4oz bottle and I fully expect it to last about a year, because not much is needed for use.

Thank you System JO! They gave me this product in exchange for an honest review.

I had always wanted to try out a few System JO lubes, and luckily I recently got the chance. It’s a fairly new company, started in 2003, but they’ve since started lines of water and silicone based lubricants, warming lubes, flavored lubes, and massage oils, along with a few other things.

Today, I’ll be reviewing their Womens H20 lubricant. There’s a few different subcategories to this, such as Agape(which I’ll be reviewing soon, so look back), Warming and Silicone, but I’m just covering the very basic kind.

This particular lube contains glycerin but the Agape version does not. On their website, it states that this glycerin is derived from plants, instead of animals. They also state the animal derived glycerin is more likely to cause yeast infections.

Glycerin is a type of sugar. Sugar feeds yeast. Overgrowth of yeast causes yeast infections. I have had yeast infections, in fact I get them more commonly than I like but even though I’ve been using this lube consistently, 3-6 times weekly for almost a month, I haven’t had any yeast infections come up.

The fact that this product doesn’t offend my body at all is a little surprising, not because it’s a questionable product (it’s not), but because I have such a sensitive body.

This lube does contain parabens though, and some women have reactions to that. Parabens are preservatives and you must have a preservative in a water based lube because otherwise it will go bad.

In use, this lube is excellent. It’s very slippery, and stay slippery for quite a while. I generally use two squirts of the pump top for dildos/insertable vibes and that stays slippery throughout my whole play session. It’s satiny, with a feel very similar to their silicone lube.

It’s very runny with a consistency barely thicker than water but it hasn’t dripped off my toys onto the covers. If this happens to you though, no biggie, just toss it in the wash and it should come out without problems.

After I get done I either wipe it off me with a damp cloth or take a shower. It comes off easily both ways. Just use a little soap and water on your toys to ensure nothing remains behind.

The bottle itself is rather discreet. It has a very modern looking label and from a distance all you can see is the brand name, System JO, on a colored band around the bottom. I’ve left this standing out on my headboard and it’s not eye catching at all.

The bottle has also been carried around in my purse and it has never once leaked out or squirted unexpectedly. It’s laid down sideways for a day or two in my toy drawer without leaking a drop.

The package I received it in was the biggest problem I had with this product and I wrote about that here. The short version is, it came in a VERY non-discreet package, the company apologized and stated publicly that they would no longer be using that type of packaging. I suggest you email them if you’d like to be sure though, because they are friendly and quick to respond.

UPDATE: I was personally informed by the company that there is no need to contact them to ensure a discreet box, all customer orders are always shipped in a plain brown box. The only reason mine was so non-discreet was because it was sent from the marketing department, rather than the warehouse (where all the customers orders are handled). The only reason the marketing department was the one who shipped these to me is because I received them for free, to review and write about as honestly as possible.

Overall, this is one awesome lube worth investing in. The bottle will last for quite awhile, considering I use very little each time. I wish I had known how badly I would want a lube when I first started reviewing toys, because I use this or the agape version each and every time.

System Jo provided me this lubricant for free in exchange for an honest review.
